The difference of opinions between the north and the south on bondage, freedom and the union led to the Civil war. The norths, which were the free states and the south, which were knuckle d havery states, had been in disagreement for many years. The north did not command slavery to spread, they thought this was an evil system and they eventually precious slavery abolished everywhere. The south asked slavery to continue because they mat they needed the slaves for survival. When Lincoln was elected the south decided to bump from the union.
