Battle scenes are the hardest to recreate convincingly in expansive poems. They
require the example of numerous aesthesiss that the condition involve to bring into play during the
combat. The first thing most authors do is plot out the affair that leaseers are going to
read. They lay the battle or battles where it will make the most sense in the book.
Also during the battle the reader will canvas many things, especially about a
voice through the reference works viewpoint. Last, but not least, is the authors enforce of
sensory and emotional detail. These two precise important report tools are what
really enhance what the people will read. With the use of emotional and sensory
detail the readers can buy into what the author has written. The use of sensory
detail really brings the hearing and perceive senses into play. While on the other hand,
the use of emotional detail will help the reader attach to the main character through
his or her feelings and actions. Throughout this epic poem a reader will encounter
many great examples of Virgils battle scenes written with precise detail.
The moment I chose to question is from an epic poem called the Aenied.
Being
an epic poem on that point is a common underlying theme among all the battle scenes; with
the telling of a great adventure through epic characters. A great example of this is
book twelve, lines 438-467. This is a secne where Turnus sees his greatest enemy
Aeneas and begins to go crazy on the battlefield slaughtering many Trojans. From a
readers standpoint this is a very well written battle. It contains the use of great
detail. In this battle the use of many small details is very familiar in the authors
writing. At the beginning we read that Turnus sees Aeneas and is in immediate
dismay. So he calls for weapons and a buck and takes the reins. He begins to bring
