How is this possible? With a slender thing we scientists call SURFACE TENSION. Basically it means that there is a sort of unclothe on the surface of water where the water molecules run on skintight together. Many insects, such as water striders, use this skin to walk across the surface of a stream.

1 balloon (round ones will work, but the longer airship balloons work best)
1 long piece of kite filament (about 10-15 feet long)
1 plastic straw
